Hot and sunny weather across most of the country will likely last until the weekend due to a temporary break in monsoon rains in the next three days.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said yesterday partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms may prevail in a huge part of the country.
In its extended weather outlook for selected cities, PAGASA showed that Puerto Princesa City, Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Cagayan de Oro City, Valencia City, and Davao City may still experience scattered rains until Friday, while an improvement in weather conditions are expected by Saturday.
Meanwhile, scattered rains will continue in Zamboanga City until Sunday.
Rain showers due to the intertropical convergence zone will also return in Davao City on Sunday.
Throughout the outlook period, the rest of the country will be hot and humid but chances of rain showers in the afternoon or evening are not being ruled out.
Aurelio warned that rains may become heavy or intense during the occurrence of severe thunderstorms that could trigger flash floods or landslides in high-risk areas.
Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours.
PAGASA has not issued a gale warning as it remains safe to go out into the country’s coasts.
Moderate seas will prevail over the western section of Luzon while the rest of the country will have slight to moderate coasts.
Aurelio said PAGASA does not expect a tropical cyclone or weather disturbance near or within the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the next three days. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
