TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Police Regional Office-Cordillera destroyed some P21.6 million worth of marijuana plants in three days of operations in the mountainous area of Tinglayan town.
PDEA Regional Director Gil Castro said 105,500 fully grown marijuana plants and 2,500 seedlings were uprooted and burned in a 12,000-square meter land during the operations from July 7 to 9 in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan.
PDEA reminded the public that cultivation of marijuana is against the law.
Anyone found violating the law will be penalized under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“We will move towards the heart of these sites to destroy as many as we can to cut if not effectively reduce the supply” Castro said.
