There is a bounce on each step world champion John Riel Casimero takes every time he reports for training.
Apparently, Casimero, who has been training in the US since mid-February, has been given the assurance that he will finally get the opportunity to defend his World Boxing Organization bantamweight crown.
“September na,” said a giggling Casimero during a live post on social media.
Casimero didn’t say exactly when but the Filipino puncher’s message was loud and clear.
This was probably the reason why he withdrew from flying back to the Philippines two weeks ago.
Casimero was supposed to face Japanese Naoya Inoue in a three-belt showdown last April 26 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
But the worldwide lockdown that took effect in the second week of March and that remains a factor to this day, has put plans in disarray.
Owing to the travel restrictions, Casimero could end up fighting another opponent.
Still, it is much better than not fighting at all for someone who has been regularly working out the last six months.
Casimero is a part of MP Promotions growing list of topnotch talents.
