A low pressure area (LPA) east of Catanduanes is seen to bring scattered to widespread rains over some parts of Luzon and Visayas as the weather disturbance moves closer to Bicol Region on Tuesday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of the LPA at 115 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes around 11 a.m.
The LPA has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical depression within 48 hours but may still significantly affect parts of the country.
Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains are likely to affect Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental within the next 24 hours.
The LPA may also bring scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rain showers over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and the rest of Palawan and Visayas.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
