The Philippines Football League formally sent an endorsement letter to the Games and Amusements Board seeking to allow its guest team Azkals Development Team to proceed with its training bubble in the private island of Balesin.
Commissioner Coco Torre submitted the letter to GAB chairman Baham Mitra on Wednesday while inspecting the Blue Pitch in Makati City as a possible second training venue for PFL clubs.
“We spoke about it and we already sent a letter seeking their endorsement,” Torre said. “Hopefully all things go well and fall into place.”
ADT players and staff are reportedly in Balesin, but not before undergoing swab testing and quarantine procedures as required by the island’s management.
Balesin has a regulation-sized football pitch as part of the amenities inside the island where only members and its guests are allowed to enter.
But ADT has been put on standby in order to avoid possible repercussions such as the controversial Sorsogon bubble of the University of Santo Tomas men’s basketball team.
All five PFL clubs are training regularly at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona, Cavite while observing strict quarantine measures.
Stallion-Laguna and Kaya-Iloilo were the first clubs to train while United City, Mendiola and new club Maharlika FC began training this week.
