CARMONA, Cavite – The municipal government here reported on Wednesday a case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Barangay Lantic.
The local government unit (LGU) received a letter from the Department of Agriculture on Sept. 8 confirming the ASF case.
This virus causes a hemorrhagic fever with high mortality rates in domestic pigs and can cause death of animals as quickly as a week after infection.
Mayor Roy M. Loyola asked hog raisers and residents to coordinate with local officials if they suspect an ASF infection in their area. (Carla Bauto Deña)
