BAGUIO CITY – The city government formally accepted the services of “Jeepito”, the world’s smallest jeepney, during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at the city hall grounds here.
Officials of the city, led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Congressman Mark Go, expressed delight to the owner’s willingness to bring out his cute little jeepney that could provide additional attraction to the country’s summer capital for free.
Jeepito, which measures 92 inches in length, 42 inches in width and 55 inches in height, is powered by 3 cylinder Susuki multicab engine and customized using scrap materials.
It was first launched on December 25, 2015 with tourists thrilled to see the beautiful creation of Ronald “Tonton” Tan.
Tan is once again offering to park his “Jeepito” at the city’s various parks so people can take a photo for souvenir – inside or outside the vehicle.
Tan said offering the services of “Jeepito” is his own little way to contribute to the city’s tourism after the industry suffered the hardest during the early part of pandemic.
Tan and his staff will also be at the park to offer trivia questions with the lucky participants who can make correct answers will be given gifts and give-aways.
“Jeepito is timely especially with the reopening of tourism. This will be a big help and an attraction especially to the tourist who are eager to see and visit the city again,” said Magalong. (Zaldy Comanda)
