Michele Gumabao took to social media recently to explain her stand on the controversies surrounding her stint at the recently concluded MUP 2020.
The volleyball-athlete-beauty-queen ignited controversy making herself scarce at a photo shoot involving all the winners.
Explaining herself via a video uploaded on YouTube, Gumabao said she decided to skip the shoot as she was simply “overwhelmed” with so many people asking her so many things all at once.
“After knowing what I knew the past two days, everything just came crashing down on me,” she said.
Note that early on, the 28-year-old mentioned having “heard things I never should have heard, witnessed things I never should have witnessed” that ultimately “hurt” her.
She didn’t exactly detail what those things were, earning her more brickbats from pageant fans unhappy of her video statement.
Asked one, “What’s the point again?”
“Andaming sinabi. Na-hurt ka so umalis ka? Unbecoming pa rin as a winner,” added another.
“Tama na Michele. Ur action speaks louder than your words,” said yet another kibitzer.
Gumabao also pointed to pageant organizers not making enough effort to explain to fans why she didn’t appear at the shoot.
“The organization knew why. They knew my reasons, they knew why I left, (but) they never said anything, they kept quiet.”
In the end, Gumabao urged all those who took effort to watch the video to fix crowns, society, social issues, the future even because “we can.”
