BACOLOD CITY – An alleged drunk man was hacked and mauled to death by his two younger brothers inside their house at Purok GK village, Barangay Cabug here on Saturday.
Slain was Larry Bandico, 32, police said. Lt. Gilbert Batiles, head of Police Station 9, said the incident happened when the victim was pacified by his younger brother Wilmar, after he was seen allegedly attempting to hurt his pregnant partner.
The victim, armed with a canecutter, allegedly tried to attack Wilmar, but they grapple with the weapon on the ground, the station commander added.
Junmar, their youngest brother, intervened and reportedly hit the victim on the head with a piece of wood, Batiles said.
The victim, however, also sustained small hackwounds when Wilmar was able to grab the canecutter, Batiles said.
The victim sustained injuries on the neck and head which caused his immediate death, he added.
His two brothers fled but were later arrested by the police.
Batiles said the two suspects will be released from police custody after the 36-hour reglementary detention, if the victim’s family won’t pursue charges against them.
