TACLOBAN CITY – Biliran Gov. Roger Espina confirmed Friday that he and his wife Dr. Cecil have tested positive for COVID-19.
The governor said they tested positive after being exposed to two of his staff who have been infected by the disease.
Both of their employees were asymptomatic and are now in isolation. The other workers in the governor’s office have tested negative for the virus.
Their son, Naval Mayor Gerard Espina, said his parents will be under quarantine for at least a week before getting swabbed.
“Asymptomatic naman, but then nakaka-worry talaga, especially (the) family. Our contact tracing team is underway to conduct their investigation,” he shared.
Mayor Espina renewed his call for everyone to follow the health protocols as the local transmission of the dreaded virus is evident.
He added that testing continues to be vital in all local government units. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
