2 p.m. – UST vs UE
4 p.m. – UP vs Ateneo
University of Sto. Tomas takes on University of the East today in the UAAP basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Tigers have automatically booked themselves a spot in the semifinals seat with their 9-2 record, a big improvement for coach Bong dela Cruz and his wards as they return to the semifinals a year after missing out the final four train.
Veterans Louie Vigil and Kevin Ferrer are in unison in saying they are not satisfied with the small achievement that they nailed last week.
“I’m happy pero ang goal namin is either one or two. We wouldn’t stop here. Kahit papaano nakabawi naman kami from last game,” said Vigil.
Ferrer likewise echoed the same sentiments from Vigil while adding that looking too far ahead would be dangerous for them.
“Hindi final four agad kahit meron pang elimination games. Kailangan namin makuha yung one or two na spot,” he said.
Ferrer also brushed off the thoughts of being named the Most Valuable Player this year specially since he’s slowly gaining ground on Kiefer Ravena for the individual plum.
Ferrer received multiple ‘MVP chants’ from UST faithfuls at the arena after he finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds in their 83-76 victory over the University of the Philippines last week. (CRISTIAN JACINTO)
