The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) suspended its retention policy for the first semester of the academic year 2020-2021, PLM President Emmanuel A. Leyco announced late Tuesday.
University and college-specific retentions policies determine the qualification of students to remain in their respective programs according to their general weighted average (GWA).
Leyco said the suspension is the university’s response to the difficult challenges experienced by students in online learning platforms.
The suspension was approved by the PLM Board of Regents upon the recommendation by the university management and the Council of Deans.
In addition, students are now allowed to file a Leave of Absence (LOA) within the semester prior to the final examination week.
The LOA period will not be counted towards the maximum residency requirement of the university.
