“Ghosting” is now a song. It’s the spirit behind singer Sheryn Regis’ comeback song under ABS-CBN’s Star Music.
The term is common among young people in reference to lovers who suddenly, and without explanation, rhyme or reason, drop out of their partners’ lives.
Sheryn captures a woman’s torment when faced with such a predicament through the song, “Tulad Ng Dati,” dropped on streaming sites last March 26.
Kiko Salazar, composer, says the song sums up a woman’s mixed feelings following rejection even as she tries to find answers after she is left hanging on to her feelings without apparent warning.
A popular actress said she felt like trash after her boyfriend, also an actor, ghosted her.
“This is my first original song after 10 years of being away from the Philippines. Ito ang kantang maraming makaka-relate,” Sheryn says.
The single is produced by March On Entertainment, Sheryn’s management company.
It features Sheryn’s signature sound in a fresh indie-pop tune that focuses on intimate storytelling rather than on vocal acrobatics.
Sheryn, a multi-awarded singer, is home for good to resume her interrupted Philippine career.
She said she didn’t really want to leave, give up her flourishing career in 2010 to settle in a small town near Dallas, Texas.
“I did it for my family, it was a mother’s act. I wanted my daughter, then aged 7, to grow up in a suitable environment.’’
Life in Texas was hard. She had to do a lot of adjustment, sacrifices.
She took on day jobs, one of which was as an elementary school teacher handling English.
Sheryn currently hosts “Kalderoke: The Singing and Cooking Showdown” on Kapamilya Channel.
