The family of former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada is asking for continuous prayers for his recovery as he is now placed on mechanical ventilation after his pneumonia worsened due to COVID-19.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 6, Erap’s son, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada said: “Yesterday, my father’s condition suffered a setback as his pneumonia worsened.”
“Because of this and the resulting increase in oxygen requirement, his doctors decided to place him on mechanical ventilation,” he added.
Jinggoy said that this was done to improve oxygen delivery as well as to prevent weakening his father’s respiratory mechanism.
“My father has always been a fighter and I hope that with the help of your prayers he will win this battle. Please continue praying for his immediate recovery,” Jinggoy said.
Estrada was rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) in Greenhills, San Juan on the night of March 28 after he experienced weakness of the body. He tested positive for COVID-19.
His condition got worse a day after being placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
