San Miguel Beer star June Mar Fajardo made an emotional return to his home province of Cebu for the first time since the passing of his mother.
Fajardo took to social media to express the heartbreak of seeing the urn of Marites Fajardo, who died last August.
“Not the kind of homecoming we want but it is what it is!” Fajardo said in an Instagram post. “We know you’re in a better place now Mama. No more stress, pain and suffering just peace. I love you and miss you forever! ‘til we meet again Mama!”
The Beermen star was in Manila when the elder Fajardo passed away at the age of 52 at a local hospital in Cebu.
She’s been known as one of the most influential figures of the 6-foot-10 gentle giant, who is a self-confessed “Mama’s boy.”
The six-time PBA Most Valuable Player is also taking some time off in Cebu after a grueling campaign in the Philippine Cup that saw SMB being eliminated in the semifinals.
San Miguel lost in seven games to TNT during the series held under a semi-bubble setup at the Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor, Pampanga.
