Senator Imee Macos’ latest vlog celebrates Pride Month.
She does so, sitting down with two luminaries of the LGBTQI+ community: Geraldine Roman and Ziffred
Ancheta.
Roman is the very first transgender woman elected to Congress as she is currently on her third term as
Representative of the first district of Bataan, while Ancheta serves as Barangay Captain of Marikina City’s Barangay
Tumana and president of Liga Ng Mga Barangay.
Imee’s intimate interview with Roman and Ancheta is filled with laughter and inspiration as they discuss family,
career, and how the two live their amazing lives as transwomen in the political landscape of the Philippines.
The fun continues on another vlog set for release on Saturday, June 25, when Imee’s proficiency and aptitude on LGBTQI+ culture is put to the test in a hilarious game as she guesses the meaning and correct usage of popular and hip gay lingo.
Imee explains her support of the community.
“I am a passionate advocate of the community. Ever since, babaeng bakla nga ang tawag sa akin ng mga friends
ko. I am proud of what they have accomplished and they will always have my solid support. Congresswoman Roman and Councilor Ancheta are two of the most fantastic members of the community who have defied the odds in making their dreams come true. They are shining beacons of hope who broke the glass ceiling as they are very instrumental in paving the way for the younger ones to soar high and reach for their dreams.”
