Justin De Los Santos is thrilled to represent the Philippines when he competes in the 2022 British Open starting Thursday in St. Andrews.
The 26-year-old took the fourth and last berth in the fabled event that was staked during the Japan Tour’s Mizuno Open last May. The three others who made it are
Scott Vincent, Anthony Quayle and Brad Kennedy.
He started that week ranked 610th in the world.
“It’s an incredible opportunity for me – my first time to play in a major,” De Los Santos said.
“It will also be my first time in Europe and should be fun. St. Andrews is a special place with a lot of history – it will be awesome to play there.”
Born in California, De Los Santos turned pro in 2017.
His last tournament with the Japan Golf Tour was at the Japan Players Championship last month, where he finished tied at 29th.
