The trailer for “Maid In Malacañang” was finally made available to the public over the weekend via social media.
It was unveiled at a glittering ceremony held at the historic Manila Hotel.
The stars of the film were present including Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Cristine Reyes, Diego Loyzaga, Ella Cruz, Karla Estrada, Elizabeth Oropesa, Beverly Salviejo, Kiko Estrada and Kyle Velino.
Also present were film writer and director Darryl Yap, along with Senator Imee Marcos, the film’s main consultant.
Viva’s head honcho, Vic Del Rosario was there was well, along with his son, Vincent, Viva president and chief executive officer.
The trailer proved exciting, intriguing.
It shows various goings on inside Malacañang as well as outside during the 1986 People Power Revolution.
There were glimpses of the real-life Cory Aquino as with people massing in EDSA.
It shows Ruffa as Imelda looking rather forlorn.
There’s also a scene where Cesar as President Marcos is seen berating his son Bongbong as played by Diego for dressing up in military garb.
Then there’s Cristine looking fierce as Imee.
The venue erupted in cheers near its end with Bongbong assuring his mother, “Makakabalik tayo…”
Publicist Chuck Gomez who was seated next to us intoned, “Grabe. Trailer pa lang alam mong must-watch talaga.”
“Maid in Malacañang” is billed as a dramedy.
According to Darryl, apart from many dramatic moments during the revolution, the film will also show the lighter and more carefree side of the First Family, something that he believes until now has never been shown and shared as much as it should be.
“Parati kasi ang nakikita natin ay kung ano lang ‘yung version nang iba. Sa tingin ko, it’s about time na marinig din naman ng mga tao, at makita, kung ano ang naging experience nila noong mga panahon na ‘yun,” he said.
“Maid In Malacañang” has been trending in social media even before being officially greenlit for production.
The film is set for release August 3.
