Janelle Tee comes to fore in “The Escort Wife.”
Playing the role of an abused wife eager for attention, Janelle was able to rise to the occasion allowing for superb acting that wasn’t as palpable in past outings.
Maybe it helped that she was paired with one of the industry’s more accomplished actors in Raymond Bagatsing.
Asked about their working relationship, Janelle related, “Ang sarap katrabaho ni Raymond. He is very generous. Ang laking tulong na siya ang kapareha ko dito dahil mas lalo akong na-challenge at mas nailabas ko ang dapat para sa role ko. Hopefully mas marami pang challenging roles ang dumating.”
Of course, as a Vivamax offering, Janelle showed some skin in the film.
Was it harder than usual?
Janelle answered, “Well, it was but again, dahil na rin sa suporta ng aking mga co-actor’s at sa guidance ng aming director na si Paul Basinillo, nagawa ko naman ng maayos I think.”
“The Escort Wife” is an unusual story.
Out of boredom, a wife found out that her husband is cheating on her. Instead of confronting him outright, the wife decided to get even by sleeping with her husband’s friends, among many others.
Written and produced by the award-winning filmmaker Yam Laranas, it is supposedly inspired by real events.
Paul made clear, “Yes. But It didn’t happen here. Sa ibang bansa. Real events. Of course, we tweaked it here and there for narrative purposes.”
Also starring hottie Ava Mendez, “The Escort Wife” drops on Vivamax, Sept. 16.
