Those into fun, hunky young men will have a lot to enjoy in the sexy barkada comedy “Call Me Papi” from Viva Films.
Note that its stars, Enzo Pineda, Lharby Policarpio, Albie Casino, Royce Cabrera and Aaron Concepcion, are all considered among today’s hottest young actors and, no doubt, they offer a lot in terms of eye candy.
But it isn’t as if that is all there is to “Call Me Papi.”
The film, written and directed by Alvin Yapan, has an interesting enough plot line that allowed the boys to flex a bit of their acting skills.
It actually recalls “Bagets” only that the boys here aren’t high school students. They are all not-so upwardly mobile young men living together in a miniscule apartment eagerly navigating the difficulties given to their young lives.
According to Alvin, the film has brotherhood and solidarity as main theme.
“The producers asked me to create something very light, very entertaining but with a meaningful message. Ang naisip namin, unity, yung idea na ‘walang iwanan.’ I was thinking many could relate to the idea lalo na we all have been through so much amid the pandemic.”
The stars of the film were all happy given the reaction of the audience present during the red carpet premiere.
Lharby related, “Naririnig ko yung mga reaksyon. Nakakatuwa. Kasi nga ang tagal naming trinabaho ang pelikula. To see people enjoy our hard work is very rewarding.”
“Call Me Papi” opens in theatres Dec. 7.
