The biggest sporting star of her generation is once again honored.
Olympic gold medalist and world champion Hidilyn Diaz was given a star at the Eastwood City Walk of Fame in Quezon City Wednesday night, Jan. 18, to honor her achievements in the field of weightlifting.
Diaz shared the momentous moment on her social media, saying that it was an unexpected recognition.
“Di ko inakala nandito pangalan ko sa star na ito sa Walk of Fame dito sa Eastwood,” wrote Diaz.
Diaz also thanked her husband and coach, Julius Naranjo and the glamour team behind her in helping her prepare for the ceremony.
She, however, said her success wasn’t hers alone.
“Sa lahat ng award at fame na ito, ang glory parin ay para kay God at sa bansa,” Diaz wrote.
Diaz became the biggest star in her generation after winning the country’s first Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Last December, she added another milestone when she won three gold medals at the world championships in Bogota, Colombia, feats that enabled her to complete her cabinet of trophies.
Eastwood’s Walk of Fame is patterned after the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California, USA.
