Both Pampanga teams — the G Lanterns and Royce Hotel — went home with morale-boosting wins at the end of the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup on tour Friday night at the RMC Gymnasium in Davao City.
Guard Kurt Reyson waxed hot with 24 points as the G Lanterns essayed an 87-84 escape over defending champion and host Davao Occidental-Cocolife.
Reyson added six rebounds and four assists for the G Lanterns, while Kevin Santos wound up with a double-double of 21 points and 12 boards.
King Caralipio had 11 and six as the G Lanterns redeemed themselves from an 85-68 loss to Kopanang Lakan ng Bulacan last Friday and improved to 7-4 for eight in the joust presented by Dumper party-list, Winzir, and Skin Care Depot, co-presented by SCD Cosmetics, and supported by NET 25, Adcon, Wcube Solutions Inc., MDC, Unisol, Don Benitos, and Finn Cotton.
The Tigers failed to recover from a numbing 76-71 setback to rival San Juan also last Friday and fell to 9-3 for fourth.
Earlier, Pampanga Royce Hotel manhandled Bulacan, 69-52, for its third straight triumph.
Jolo Mendoza fired 14 points that he laced with three rebounds and a dime for Pampanga Royce, while BJ Andrade had 12.
JB Bahio and Allen Liwag also combined for 21 for Pampanga Royce, which scored a fitting follow up to 98-80 thrashing of Bicol last Feb. 4 and boosted its hold second with a 9-1 mark.
Bulacan dropped to 8-4, still good for sixth.
Emman Calo paced Davao Occidental with 20 points and five rebounds, while Gab Dagangon and Alvin Abundo added 14 and 12 markers, respectively.
JL Delos Santos and Agem Miranda got 12 and 10 points, respectively for Bulacan.
