Cebuano karting sensation William John Riley Tiu Go has once again brought pride to Cebu as he was awarded The Tony Siddayao Awards as well the Junior Athletes of the Year medal by Milo in the sport of karting at the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Annual Awards Night last March 6.
He was also recently recognized by the Cebu City Government at the 86th Cebu City Charter Day testimonial dinner as one of its “Outstanding Individuals” last February.
The Philippine Sportswriters Association, the oldest media organization in the country, honored close to 100 of the best and brightest athletes in Philippine sports, including Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, who was recognized as Athlete of the Year.
Go was a recipient of The Tony Siddayao Award, an award given to young athletes under 18, along with other achievers in archery, gymnastics, karate, swimming and the Philippine Junior chess team.
Go expressed gratitude for the 3 awards, saying: “I am truly honored and humbled to receive these. It’s a dream come true to represent the Philippines in karting and I hope this inspires other young athletes to pursue their dreams and have that ‘will to win’.”
Go has been karting since he was seven, achieving notable feats in his young career being the first Filipino with podium finishes in three European competitions. In 2022, he won world champion at the ROK Super Finals in Lonato, Italy, along with getting the Pole Position and Fastest Lap. He also finished second at the FIA Karting Academy in Genk, Belgium, and third at the WSK Euro Series in Lombardia, Italy. His latest achievements are a testament to his unwavering dedication, passion, and hard work in his craft.
The Tony Siddayao Awards, the Junior Athletes of the Year medal by Milo and the recognition from the Cebu City Government are fitting recognitions of Go’s remarkable achievements in the sport of karting.
