Status seeking could be harmful and in more ways than one.
This is the gist of Joel Lamangan’s “Fall Guy” starring Sean De Guzman.
As Julius Sumpay, Sean is a slum-dwelling son of a housemaid eager for a taste of the good life.
His mother (played by Shamaine Buencamino), is aware of this and as such has been constantly reminding him about its dangers.
But Julius won’t have any of it.
Apparently, he is envious of the extravagant life of his boss, Fonzy (Vance Larena).
He wants to be part of his gang.
As such, where Fonzy goes, Julius goes.
Soon he gets to join them in their drinking parties.
Just when he thought his wishes have come true, Julius was slapped back into reality waking up beside a dead woman (Cloe Barreto).
He was set up by Fonzy and his gang.
They want to make it appear that Julius was responsible for the girl’s rape and murder.
What will happen to Julius?
Will people listen to his cry for justice?
According to a release, “Fall Guy” is a realistic portrayal of what goes on in the society where the rich use their power to get away with anything.
It also sheds a light on the suffering and struggle of the wrongly accused.
Note Sean has been hailed Best Actor at the Chithiram International Film Festival in India and Anatolian Film Awards in Turkey for his performance in the film.
Also starring Marco Gomez, Glydel Mercado, Tina Paner, Quinn Carrillo, Mark Cardona, Tiffany Grey, Hershie de Leon, Jim Pebanco, and more, “Fall Guy” streams on Vivamax May 12.
