Back in the early 2000’s there was a popular rap competition in “Eat Bulaga!” called “RapPublic of the Philippines.”
Hailed as winner was a trio from Marikina who called themselves Triangulo.
Under mentorship of the late, great Master Rapper Francis Magalona they would eventually become known as Crazy as Pinoy.
Composed of Lordivino Ignacio also known as Basilyo, Muriel Anne Jamito or Sisa and Jeffrey Pilien otherwise known as Crispin, Crazy as Pinoy crafted huge hits in “Panaginip,” “Huwad,” and “Crazy Dance.”
Each of them would go on to lead successful solo careers.
Basilyo would carve a mammoth hit with “Lord Patawad,” before going on to pursue an acting career.
Sisa would make a name for herself as songwriter, creating hits for other artists including Regine Velasquez, Toni Gonzaga, Lyka Gairanod and JK Labajo.
Crispin was involved in other rap groups including Barakojuanand Marikina All-Star.
This year, the trio decided to join forces anew following huge clamor for “Panaginip.”
Said Crispin, “Nabigyan buhay muli yung kanta sa social media. Nagustuhan ng bagong henerasyon.”
Added Basilyo, “Nagulat din kami actually kasi classic na nga ang kanta. Nakakatuwa na marami sa mga kabataan ngayon ang nakakarelate.”
The song’s popularity was boosted further following the group’s appearance in the Wish Bus.
To date their YouTube performance on the Wish bus has already garnered 14 million views.
To solidify the comeback, Crazy As Pinoy signed up with new management, Blvck Entertainment.
According to company owner Grace Sy Cristobal, signing up the group is a no-brainer.
“Iconic na sila at obvious sa reaksyon sa ‘Panaginip’ ng current generation of music lovers na may hatak pa rin sila. Siyempre kami ay natutuwa na they’re making their comeback with us,” she said.
Already out now is the music video of “Panaginip” as directed byTitus Cee.
“Panaginip” is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, Deezer, Medianet, Boomplay, You Tube Music.
