Another 70 entries will be competing in Tuesday’s second round of the elimination of this year’s second edition of World Slasher Cup 9-Cock Invitational Derby at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Top fighters competing in today’s two-cock elimination rounds are four-time WSC champion Rey Briones, sabong legends Nene Araneta and Patrick Antonio, and other top names of the sport.
Meanwhile, 55 entries will move on to the 3-cock semi-finals on May 24, Wednesday, after surviving the 2-cock elimination round. Advancing to the next round are competitors with 2-0 record, while those who scored at least a point during the first-round elimination will stay in contention for the title.
Among the top fighters battling it out in the semifinals are Dennis Lumpay/Toto Gregore, PablitoGregore, Dell Geroy/DadaySiochi, Tata Gov/TRB, Allan Villegas/Obet Bello, Anthony Garcia, Danny Lim/Daddy Ortee, Danny Lim/Adrian Manalansan, Don Destura/Antonio Burburan, Jon Jon Cano, Fiscal Moises Villanueva, Eddie Gonzales, Roger Vibal/Jun Durano, and Doc Eddie Boy Cheng/Atty. Tubban/Jun Durano, all with 2-0 records each after the elimination round.
JDC will also move on to the semi-finals after scoring 1.5 points in the elimination round. Nene Araneta, Pol and PJ Estrellado, Aurello F. Yee/ Magno Lim, Danny Lim, PadzBarreda, Jon Jon Alegre, James Uy, and other fighters who scored 1-1 records each will also advance to the semi-finals.
The winners of the semi-finals will move on to the four-cock pre-finals on May 29 and grand finals on May 30 wherein a new World Slasher Cup champion will be crowned.
