Carlos Yulo continued his dominance in the Asian Senior Artistic Gymnastics Championships after capturing two more gold medals – in vault and parallel bars – in Singapore on Sunday, June 18.
The two-time world champion and Tokyo Olympian first ruled the vault despite some landing issues by posting a 14.299 average on two routines to retain the title he won in the 2022 Doha edition.
With a 5.600 degree of difficulty on both vaults, he scored 13.966 on the first and 14.633 on his second.
Uzbekistan’s Abdulaziz Mirvaliev bagged the silver with 14.083 while Korean Kim Jaeho clinched the bronze with 13.766.
Yulo’s teammate Juancho Miguel Besana, who won the 32nd Southeast Asian Games gold medal in Cambodia last month, finished eighth with 13.417.
Yulo returned an hour later with another crisp and flawless performance in parallel bars, scoring 15.266 to beat Japan’s Shinnosuke Oka (15.133) and China’s Yin Dehang (15.100).
So far, Yulo amassed three golds after ruling the floor exercise Saturday, June 17. He also claimed the individual all-around silver on Thursday.
He is competing in the horizontal bar at press time.
Meanwhile, Fil-American Aleah Finnegan claimed her second medal after bagging the bronze in the balance beam with 12.833 behind eventual gold medalist Zhang Qingying (14.200) and Zhang Xinyi (13.133) both from China.
The 20-year-old settled for a bronze medal in vault on Saturday.
