A four-man Philippine swimming team will see action in the 9th World Aquatics Junior Championships slated Sept. 4-9 in Netanya, Israel.
Comprising the team that was approved by Philippine Swimming, Inc, (PSI) Secretary-General and Batangas Rep. Eric Buhain are Jasmine Mojdeh (100m butterfly), Heather White (50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle), Gian Santos (100m, 200m and 400m freestyle), and Filipino-German Alexander Eichler (100m and 200m butterfly).
The fifth member of the team, Teia Salvino, begged off from competing in the juniors event as she is fully focused on her training for the Asian Games slated Sept. 28 to Oct. 8 in Hangzhou, China.
Salvino, who made a splash in the recent SEA Games after winning the women’s 100m backstroke gold, was supposed to compete in the 50m and 100m backstroke, 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, and 100m butterfly.
They made it to the team after obtaining more than 680 standard points during the qualifying period from May 1, 2022, to July 30, 2023.
“Congratulations to all the qualifiers, their coaches and parents,” said Buhain who is a two-time Olympian.
Mojdeh and White were members of the PH team that took part in last year’s World Championships in Lima, Peru.
