Filipino-Kiwi Ken Tuffin is set to resume his playing career in the Philippines after applying for the PBA Rookie Draft set Sept. 17 at the Market! Market! in Taguig City.
Tuffin played for the Taranaki Air Mountaineers and Wellington Saints in the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL) since 2020 after skipping his last playing year with Far Eastern University because of the cancellation of the UAAP season due to Covid pandemic.
Tuffin, 26, did well during his stint with the Taranaki Airs, posting averages 9.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 15 games.
More than his offensive prowess, Tuffin made an impact defensively and emerged runner-up in the Defensive Player contest.
However, Taranaki decided to skip the season, prompting the former FEU star to move to the Saints where he saw action for two years.
Tuffin is hoping to a land team in the PBA – his dream destination since falling in love with the sport.
Other notable rookie prospects are Ricci Rivero, Justine Baltazar, Schonny Winston, and Will Gozum.
