A 23-man Philippine team – 19 swimmers and 4 divers – will leave for Jakarta, Indonesia on Tuesday, Aug. 22, to participate in the 45th Southeast Asian Age Group Aquatics Championships.
National junior record holder Jamesray Ajido and veteran international campaigner Amina Isabelle Bungubung will lead the team that was formed after holding intensive national tryouts conducted by the new Philippine Aquatics leadership led by president Miko Vargas and Secretary- General Eric Buhain.
“This is the first SEA Age Group team under the new administration of Philippine Aquatics, said Buhain, a two-time Olympian, and Congressman of the First District of Batangas.
Aside from Ajido and Bungubung, other members of the team that will take part I the three-day event starting on Aug. 24 are Mishka Sy, Jalid Taguin
od, Ivo Nikolai Enot, Joshua Park, Aishel Evangelista, Estifano Ramos, Lance Rafael Cruz, Patricia Mae Santor, Shairinne Floriano, Peter Cyrus Dean, Jie Angela Mikaela Talosig, Catherine Cruz, Arabella Taguinota, Bea Mabalay and Jennuel Boo De Leon.
Also joining the team are Fil-Americans Clark Kent Apuada and Ava Samantha Bautista.
The four young divers aged 12 to 15 will be guided by coach Marie Dimanche.
Buhain appointed Ramil Ilustre as swimming head coach and will have Cyrus Alcantara, Manuel De Leon Mark Pido, and Wilfredo Cruz as assistants.
Chito Rivera is head of the PH delegation with coach Anthony Reyes as deputy.
