Dominican Republic forward Angel Delgado felt sorry for what he did on Gilas center June Mar Fajardo during their game in the 2023 FIBA World Cup at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan last Friday, Aug. 25.
Delgado, 28, explained himself that he was not a dirty player and even apologized to Fajardo after their win against Angola, 75-67, on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
“It’s a physical game with [those] big guys and everything. He’s a great guy. I say I’m sorry to him and [to] everybody because I’m not that type of guy,” Delgado said.
The video of Delgado’s gut punch to the six-time PBA MVP circulated online and caused anger from the netizens.
The former Los Angeles Clippers forward said he was hoping to meet Fajardo before the tournament is over.
“We haven’t been able to talk, but as soon as I see him again, I’m gonna say sorry because that’s not what I am and [I know] he’s a good guy,” he added.
