Around 100 to 200 upcoming chess players are expected to participate when Pasig City hosts the Battle of the Future Grandmasters tournament on Dec. 9 to 10.
The event will take place at the Estancia Mall of Capitol Commons where three age groups – the 12-under, 17-under and 18-above.
Pasig City King Pirates coach Franco Camillo said the goal of the tournament is to have an avenue for young chess players to showcase their skills and expose them to tournaments like this for their future competitions.
While the tournament also aims to promote the city’s top young chess players, Camillo also hopes players from other cities and provinces will participate.
