Paolo Contis further proves his versatility in Viva’s “Ikaw At Ako,” playing Rhian Ramos’s philandering husband Anton.
The irony is not lost on Paolo who has been accused of being a serial womanizer.
He admitted, “There are similarities between me and Anton, but I’d say that Anton is more refined in how he deals with things.”
“There are things I hope I handled differently, but you just hope that you learn from your mistakes para hindi mo na ulitin pa,” he added.
Asked about him being tasked to take on heavy, dramatic roles despite him being primarily a comedian, he related, “Okay sa akin siyempre, mas marami trabaho. Nakakatuwa na kahit hindi man tayo pang leading man material e pinagkakatiwalaan tayo.”
Rhian is quite happy to be paired with Paolo.
“This is our first movie and I’m really happy because I have always wanted to work with him. He is a very good and naturally talented actor and I learned a lot from working with him.”
Noting their palpable chemistry onscreen, Rhian shared, “We’re friends even before, so it wasn’t be hard to connect with him. He’s a very open and friendly person.”
“Ikaw At Ako” tackled different kinds of love spanning generations.
Said Paolo, “Wala naman talagang boundaries ang love. It happens to everyone. Kaya nga I think very relatable ang film namin sa lahat.”
Rhian added, “It’s for those who want to fall in love. There’s a lot to learn here about relationships and communication.”
Directed by Rechie del Carmen and produced by Viva Films, “Ikaw at Ako” is now in theatres.
