Japanese coach Taka Minowa is taking a bigger role in the 2024 season of the Premier Volleyball League after being appointed as Director of Volleyball Operations for both the Akari Chargers and the Nxled Chameleons.
The announcement came on Thursday, Dec. 28, in a statement posted on Akari Sports’ website.
“After an outstanding coaching debut in the Premier Volleyball League, Nxled Chameleons’ head coach Taka Minowa will now assume the role of Director of Volleyball Operations for both his squad and the Akari Chargers,” the statement read.
While Minowa will be responsible for overseeing the volleyball programs of the two sister teams, he will continue with his coaching role with the Nxled Chameleons.
The Akari Chargers, meanwhile, have yet to announce their interim head coach following the resignation of Brazilian coach Jorge De Brito early this month.
New assistant coaches are also expected to be revealed for both Akari and Nxled.
Akari and Nxled seek to eclipse their previous finish in the season-ending conference also held this month, where the Chargers finished with a 5-6 win-loss record at seventh place and the Chameleons posting a 4-7 card at ninth place in their maiden stint with the league.
