The Philippine Women’s Softball team has moved up from No. 31 to No. 14 based on the latest world rankings of World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) it posted on Sunday, Dec. 31.
By tallying 868 points, the Blu Girls made the highest climb of the year that saw them overtake Asian powerhouse China (No. 15), a testament to team’s impressive showing.
“The Philippines [has] been the most improved nation, climbing 17 positions from No. 31 at the beginning of the year to No. 14 at the end,” WBSC stated on its website.
USA is still on top for three consecutive years with an enormous lead over Japan after piling up 4,301 points. Japan has 2,899 followed by Puerto Rico (3rd), Chinese Taipei (4th) and Canada (5th).
Italy is at No. 6 followed by Mexico (7th), The Netherlands (8th), Czech Republic (9th) and Australia (10th) were in the top 10 as well.
The Blu Boys are also on 14th place with 590 points.
In baseball, the PH men’s and women’s squads are ranked 28th and 13th places, respectively.
