Rhenz Abando has assured his fans that he’s on the right path to recovery more than two weeks since suffering injuries from a nasty fall during Anyang KGC’s yearend match against Goyang Sono in the Korean Basketball League.
The Filipino import thanked Korean and Filipino fans for supporting him as he is eager to get back into action as soon as he gets medical clearance.
“I just wanna say ‘hi’ to JKJ fans and to my Filipino fans. Wishing you nothing but the best this year and thank you for supporting me,” said Abando on a team’s Facebook post.
“Now, I feel better than the first day that I got injured. To all the fans who got worried about me, now I’m gonna tell you that I feel better. For the past two weeks, I’m getting better so please support our team and just wait for our comeback,” he said.
The 25-year-old high-flying guard was found to have suffered fractures to his third and fourth lumbar vertebrae, sprained wrist ligaments and a concussion last Dec. 29.
A day prior, Abando was fighting hard for the rebound in the second quarter of Anyang’s game against Goyang where American import Chinanu Onuaku was seen pushing him while he was mid-air, causing him to lose balance and land on his back.
Abando sat out the rest of the said game and will continue to miss action as the reigning champion struggles in the standings with an 11-20 record.
