Carlo Biado showed too much class as he essayed a 4-1, 4-0 win over Iran’s Sina Valizadeh to advance to Round of 32 in the 10-Ball Las Vegas Open at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino on Thursday, Feb. 22 (Manila time).
Biado, 40, never encountered difficulty in winning their race-to-four contest as he banked on his deft shots on delicate situations plus explosive breaks to advance easily to the next round of the event offering $30,000 (around P1.6 million) to the grand winner.
Biado will next face Taiwan’s Wu Kun in the winners’ bracket.
Also coasting to the second round were Lee Vann Corteza and Roland Garcia.
Like Biado, Cortez and Garcia were equally ruthless with the former scoring a 4-1, 4-2 win over American Maximinio Martinez, 4-1, 4-2 while the latter toppled Indonesia’s Andri Andri, 4-2, 4-0.
Corteza and Garcia, however, need to raise their level of game a notch higher if they are to advance to the next round.
Corteza will face former world champions in Russian-born American Fedor Gorst and while Garcia tackles Germany’s Joshua Filler.
Also easing past their rivals were Taiwan’s Ko Ping Chung and Ko Pin-Yi, Spain’s Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Austria’s Albin Ouschan, USA’s Shane Van Boening and Japan’s Naoyuki Oi.
Fil-Canadian Alex Pagulayan likewise marched into the next round and so is Robbi Capito who carrying banner of Hong Kong.
