Uzbekistan bagged the gold medal in the Junior 15-19 Duet event of the 11th Asian Age Group Championships artistic swimming competition at the New Clark City Aquatic Center here Tuesday night.
Ziyodakhon Toshkhujaeva, the bronze medalist in free solo last Monday, teamed up with Anna Vaschenko to claim victory after scoring 347.4850 points.
Kazakhstan’s Yasmin Tuyakova and Arina Pushkina (340.1650) settled for the silver medal while Hong Kong’s Katherine Ka Wing Chu and Chi Yin Lee (290.4529) bagged the bronze medal.
In the Youth 13-15 category, Kazakhstan’s Sofiya Ichshenko and Dayana Jamanchalova registered the highest score of 233.5413 points to beat China’s Ji Xuan Ye and Zhiyun Qui (229.6568) and Uzbekistan’s Jasmina Kodirova and Sabina Makhmudova (194.8469).
China’s Sichan Zhou and Siya Zhou were crowned champions in the 12 and under category with an impressive 208.9966 points.
Kazakhstan’s Valeriya Kostrub and Nazym Saim scored 182.8092 to secure the silver medal while Uzbekistan’s Elizaveta Kazatkina and Darya Kochneva took the bronze medal with 171.6023 points.
In water polo, Japan defeated Uzbekistan, 32-13, to remain unbeaten after four games in the men’s division.
Iran downed Kazakhstan, 12-10, for its third win in four games, while China clobbered Thailand, 32-2, to post its second win against one loss.
Malaysia notched its first win at the expense of Sri Lanka, 23-5.
In the women’s division, China bounced back from its 8-9 loss to Thailand last Monday, prevailing over Sri Lanka, 48-3, for its second win.
