Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial is already happy to see Filipino fans watch him live in his Saturday’s bout but he will be more glad if his idol and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will be present at ring side.
Marcial is to return to the ring when he faces up against Thailand’s Thoedsak Sinam in an eight-round fight at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila on Saturday, March 23.
The 28-year-old Zamboangeno expressed his admiration to Pacquiao, saying that it’s been his long dream to see Pacquiao fight but seeing the Filipino boxing great at the ring side of his fight wouldn’t be a lesser achievement.
“Alam niyo, pangarap ko lang na mapanood ‘yung laban niya. And hanggang ngayon, hinintay ko pa rin na sana makalaban pa si Sir Manny, para mapanood ko nang live si sir Manny (Pacquiao). Pero kung hindi man po mangyari yun kahit siya na po ang manood sa laban ko,” Marcial said.
“Kaya ayun, malaking bagay po iyon ma-boost yung confidence and energy ko and of course para sa darating na Paris Olympics,” he added.
Marcial also shared ABAP’s plans of sending Filipino boxers to US after his fight to further hone their skills for the Paris Games.
“Yes po. Ngayon po yun ang plan ng Philippine Boxing Alliance of the Philippines na babalik kami sa US, sa Colorado, may training camp sila na pinaghandaan doon,” Marcial continued.
“After ng laban na ito, God willing po, by God’s grace, makuha natin ang panalo, kukunin natin ang panalo. Balik ako agad sa training para sa preparation for Paris Olympics,” he added.
