Several years after making a huge mark with the hit “Ulap,” which, as of writing, has already amassed almost 60 million listens on Spotify alone, Rob Deniel continues to grow as singer-songwriter, notching several more hits including “RomCom,” Miss Miss,” “Sinta,” Ang Pag-ibig,” “Kundiman,” “Gabi,” among others.
Many believe Rob is now on his way to becoming OPM’s next big thing.
How does he feel about it?
“It’s flattering but I try not to focus on that and just try and enjoy the whole thing,” he told us with a smile.
He admitted to feeling a bit of “pressure” given his success but he knows it comes with the territory.
The 21-year old singer-songwriter told us, “It’s easy to give in to the pressure but it won’t help matters any.”
“So, what I do basically is just try to have fun, enjoy, learn as much as I can and keep on improving along the way.”
His biggest realization so far?
“That it is important to maintain a good balance entertaining my audience and improving as an artist.”
“It’s easy to just keep on serving them what they like but I know that to keep growing, I have to continue learning, to get better and be the best I can be.”
To that end, Rob has been busy sharpening the saw the last few months.
He intimated, “I’ve been doing a lot of live shows. It’s one thing I enjoy so much. I learn a lot from interacting with fans.”
He added, “I’m also trying to learn new things as songwriter. These include discovering new approaches to song writing, the recording process.”
So far, so good.
Rob hinted he is going to come out with his latest single soon.
And it is something that he had long dreamed of.
“There’s no specific date yet for the release but the song is quite special,” he related. “It’s a collab with one of my idols, the singer songwriter Janine Teñoso.”
Can’t wait.
