College of St. Benilde and University of Perpetual Help are looking to extend their reigns in grand fashion as they go for a golden sweep against their rivals in Game 2 of their respective title series in the NCAA Season 99 women’s and men’s volleyball finals on Sunday, May 26, at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Lady Blazers are just a win away from their first-ever three-peat and fourth overall in the grand old league when they tussle anew with the Letran Lady Knights at 2 p.m.
The Taft-based squad is determined to extend its amazing winning run to 40 games in order to complete their mission.
Starring, Mich Gamit and Zam Nolasco, the Lady Blazers took the opener of their best-of-three title series, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14.
Like the Lady Blazers, the Sammy Acaylar-mentored Altas Spikers are also heavily favored to repeat over the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in their 12 noon shootout.
Reigning MVP Louie Ramirez took the spotlight in that win as he poured 23 points along with 23 excellent receptions for Perpetual, who also got inspired performances from Jeff Marapoc, Michael Medalla and JC Enarciso.
“What we have in mind is that we have to finish the series in Game 2. Wag ng paabutin ng do-or-die Game 3,” said Ramirez.
Graduating Ramirez, Enarciso, Medalla, libero John Philip Pepito and Paul Teodoro are determined to leave Perpetual in a blaze of glory
