Filipino cyclist Patrick Coo continues to impress as as he copped the silver medal in the men’s elite category of the 2024 Asian BMX Continental Championships Friday, May 31, in Bangkok, Thailand.
Coo, 22, rode almost trouble-free and timed 36.74 seconds to finish second behind hometown bet Komet Sukprasert (34.858). Japanese Ryo Shimada would up third in 36.92 in the three-day long tournament that lured the best from the Asian region.
By winning the silver in men’s elite, Coo surpassed his bronze medal finish in the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games last year.
The Bellflower, California native is currently sits at 105th place with 258 points in the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) world rankings.
Coo’s points are enough for him to earn a re-allocation slot for the Paris Games if other countries waived their spot in the quadrennial meet.
The deadline for qualification in the said event is Sunday, June 2.
