Gilas Pilipinas forward Carl Tamayo has found a new home after a not-so happy stint in the Japan B.League.
The former UP Maroons star will now be playing for the Changwon LG Sakers in the coming season of the Korean Basketball League.
The LG Sakers announced on Wednesday, June 5, on their social media the signing of the 6-foot-7 Tamayo, but had no detail on the financial aspect of his contract.
He replaced his compatriot Justin Gutang, who had decent numbers in his almost two years with the team.
Tamayo was fielded sparingly in his second year with the Ryukyu Golden Kings in Japan – the apparent nreason why he did not try to renew his contract.
In his first year, Tamayo helped his team win the title.
Tamayo’s addition will be a huge boost for the Sakers, who reached the semifinals. With Tamayo’s signing in the Korean tournament, he will join fellow Filipinos Dave Ildefonso of the Suwon KT Sonicboom and Daegu KOGAS Pegasus’ SJ Belangel.
