Spike and Serve Philippines Inc. is now holdings its second on-tour coaches training and volleyball clinic in Ifugao.
The five-day “Ikot Pinas” program up North will be held in the municipalities of Kiangan, Hungduan, and Asipulo.
Focusing on coaches’ development, “Ikot Pinas” aims to equip and develop community coaches in remote communities in the provinces with no established grassroots volleyball program.
In Ifugao, Spike and Serve Philippines will join forces with Let’s Keep The Ball Flying, an international organization that has initiatives to provide outreach programs, donate gear, and produce a volleyball toolkit for communities to provide equal access to the sport.
Spike and Serve Philippines founder Nicole Tiamzon, a professional player from PVL club Petro Gazz Angels, and SSPI head of operations Shannen Palec, also a pro player, will join Let’s Keep The Ball Flying’s John Kessel, a former USA Volleyball Director of Sports Development and FIVB Course Instructor. LKTBF founder Leslie de Jorge and Lead Photographer of Volleyball World and FIBA Milad Payama will also take part in the week-long Ifugao program.
Among the notable LKTBF ambassadors are the United States’ Jordan Thompson, Brazil’s Bruno Rezende, Japan’s Yuki Ishikawa, and Turkiye’s Zehra Gunes. Here are some of their ambassadors who will serve as presenters and will be joining the Spike and Serve team in shooting their grassroots volleyball toolkit in Ifugao:
– Malina Terrell – professional volleyball player from the USA
– Ciara Michel – former Olympian, professional volleyball player, and TV host
– Kimberly Drewniok – professional volleyball player from Germany
– Anja Borsheim – Founder of Bulletproof Performance
This year, the “Ikot Pinas” program went to Santa Cruz, Laguna in May. It also conducted continuous regular online coaches’ training and mentoring sessions in Bataan and Laguna.
Founded in 2017, Spike and Serve Philippines is a non-profit, community-based sports development organization that helps children from communities to become better individuals through sports and whole-life coaching.
The organization also provided an avenue for aspiring volleyball players to get mentoring from prominent coaches. Through the sports development program, the children they train will get opportunities for education and careers in the future.
