The University of the Philippines men’s basketball team’s (MBT) big-time plans for a big-time bounce back in UAAP Season 87 just got a big-time boost.
Six-foot-10 Filipino-American Quentin Millora-Brown is joining the Fighting Maroons for their redemption campaign that commences on September 7 at the Araneta Coliseum. He will be eligible right away as a one-and-done player.
The modern big nicknamed ‘QMB’ suited up for Citadel last year and posted per game counts of 11.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks. Prior to that, he played three years with Vanderbilt after seeing action for Rice University in his rookie season.
Millora-Brown is expected to be yet another weapon for State U shot-caller Goldwin Monteverde to wield on the heels of onetime MVP Malick Diouf’s departure. He joins Nigerian Dikachi Udodo, Francis Lopez, Aldous Torculas,
Gani Stevens, Sean Alter, Mark Belmonte, and Seven Gagate in the maroon-and-green frontline.
“Malaking bagay na naman para sa atin yung pagpasok niya kasi makakatulong siya to step up para sa pagkawala ni Malick,” said Monteverde.
The transferee is slated to arrive in Manila this coming weekend and will be thrust right into training with the MBT, which is fresh off a weeks-long training camp in Serbia.
The Fighting Maroons won it all for the first time in 36 years in Season 84 and then finished with back-to-back silver medals.
