Divas of all shapes, inclination and aspiration now have a club they could call home.
Just opened in Quezon City (near ABS-CBN) is Rampa, a drag club conceptualized by RS Francisco.
RS described RAMPA a “place for drag enthusiasts.”
“It is meant to cater to LGBTQ+ supporters, and everyone looking to experience the excitement of world-class drag shows.”
“This is a fulfillment of a dream: To elevate the drag scene here in the country and flaunt it as an art form,” he added.
Note that “Drag Race Philippines” Season 1 Winner Precious Paula Nicole is also a co-owner, along with “Drag Race” superstars Viñas de Luxe and Brigiding.
Then there’s Ice Seguerra, Liza Diño, Boy Abunda.
“We are all one in pushing for and celebrating the talents within the LGBTQ+ community,” said RS of his co-owners. “The club is not just a venue for entertainment; it is a platform for empowerment and representation.”
But he made clear, “RAMPA not just for the LGBTQ+ community. It is a space for everyone, people from all walks of life. The idea is, if you want to have fun, celebrate diversity, you can come here and have fun, along the way, enjoying the joyous expression that is drag.”
The club is committed to hosting themed nights that cater to different segments of the LGBTQ+ spectrum, from Lesbian Nights to Transgender Nights.
Then there’s the Open Drag Festival.
“It happens on Sundays,” said RS. “And it is very exciting because in the festival, everyone can perform onstage. All they need to do is bring their own costume, their own music and just like that, they can unleash their inner diva!”
