PARIS – As expected there’s a Wembanyama fever gripping the host nation.
Victor Wembanyama, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA, is now almost equal to the mercurial football superstar Kylian Mbappe of the very powerful Spanish team Real Madrid in terms of popularity.
With his imposing height – standing at 7-foot-4 – Wembanyama attracts so much attention wherever he goes, often times seen signing autographs and posing for selfies and groupies with his adoring fans, especially young ones.
That’s why his jersey No. 1 for the Spurs and No. 32 for France are selling like the famed croissant these days.
It’s also the prime reason why it’s hard to buy tickets involving games of France and the United States.
French fans are eager to buy expensive tickets just to see how Wemby evolves from a gangling teenage sensation into a global star.
