The 3rd Online Sports Leadership Program (OSLP) National Sports Summit will be held in Cagayan State University Andrews Campus, Tuguegarao City, from August 22 to 24.
The annual OSLP Summit unites sports leaders and coaches to collectively shape Philippines sports, fostering collaboration and promoting of Olympic values for community growth.
The three-day event comes three weeks after the Philippines made history in the Paris, where gymnast Caloy Yulo became the country’s double Olympic gold medalist.
It will be the first time that Tuguegarao City, a bustling urban center in the North known for its vibrant culture and historical significance, will host the summit, a gathering of international and local sports leaders, athletes, coaches and students.
The three-day event, in partnership with Tuguegarao City Councilor and former national beach volleyball player Charo Soriano, Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympians Association (POA), and the MVP Sports Foundation will feature August 23 keynote speakers Soccer Without Borders (SWB) executive director Jennifer Tepper and Belgium sports professional Ilse Vanhoorelbeke.
With more than two decades of experience as a nonprofit executive, business development and fundraising strategist, and board development expert, Tepper shares a deep commitment to advancing equity and inclusion through football. Prior to joining SWB, Tepper was an Executive Director of the D.C. Language Access Coalition, and held various roles in other organizations.
Vanhoorelbeke, a former gymnastics coach, leads Otentiko, focusing on sports initiatives that enhance individual strengths. She has also experience in mentoring future sports leaders.
The August 24 spotlight speakers are Philippine Olympic Committee Board Member Pearl Managuelod and Mary Joy Tabal OLY, the athletic officer of Mandaue City.
Armed with strong psychology and sports science background, Managuelod has played a pivotal role in grassroots development and athlete support in the country. She is renowned for transformation leadership and strategic acumen in sports management.
Tabal, meanwhile, is the first woman Filipino marathon runner to qualify for the Olympics at the 2016 Rio Games. She is a three-time Southeast Asian Games medalist, winning the gold in 2017 Kuala Lumpur while bagging silvers in 2015 Singapore and 2019 Philippine edition.
The OSLP Summit will also highlight the launch of Winds of Change Project, aside from the open forum and panel discussion and story circles among the participants.
Three-time Olympian and POA President Akiko Thomson-Guevara, who recently received the “Olympian for Life” recognition from the World Olympians Association at OLY House Paris 2024, as presented by HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco, and the Mindanao Peace Games convener and PSC Mindanao coordinator coach Noli Ayo, co-founded the OSLP.
Puerto Princesa City in Palawan hosted the first two OSLP National Sports Summits last 2022 and 2023.
