Filipina Muay Thai artist Islay Erika Bomogao made her presence felt in global rankings after kicking her way to No. 1 spot in the female -45kg elite class of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA).
Fresh from her title win in Australia a few weeks later, Bomogao amassed 1920 points to secure the top place in her division after finishing first in the WC2023 Bangkok IFMA and third in WC2024 PATRAS IFMA Senior World Championships.
“This exceptional Filipina World Champion ignites the world stage, her brilliance inspiring countless athletes across the nation. Now crowned as #1 ranked IFMA 45kg female elite athlete, Islay Erika Bomogao sets a new standard of excellence,” said Muaythai Association of the Philippines – MAP on its social media post.
“Congratulations, Islay, on this monumental achievement! Your triumph fills our hearts with pride.”
She surpassed Vietnam’s Huynh Ha Huu Hieu (1560), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Hattan Alsaif (1372), AIN’s Alena Liashkevich (720) and Sweden’s Camilla Danielsson (640).
Bomogao’s triumphant campaign in the Great Southern Land against hometown top bet Sarah Kwah, made her the first Filipina Muay Thai champion.
The pride of Cordillera region has been consistently delivering high honors from 2017 up to this day including in her stints in regional and international tourneys.
