The Philippine Blu Girls reaffirmed their mastery over Ireland, 4-0, and finished 5th in the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Group C stage in Dallas, Texas.
Starter Callie Christian pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out six batters for the Blu Girls while contributing immensely to the team’s offense by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Mylia Perez had two hits in three at bats and scored twice in the game to beat ther Irish squad for the second time.
They beat the Irish, 5-2, the first time they clashed.
Ireland’s only hit was produced by shortstop Cameron Kelly, who went 1-for-3 in the game. It was her fourth hit of the tournament, finishing with a .235 batting average.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier still lauded the efforts of the Blu Girls despite failing to secure spots in the 2025 Finals.
Powerhouse United States and Canada clinched berths to the finals after finishing in the Top 2 of the Group stage, joining Japan, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Czechia, and China in the Finals.
